MuralsWallpaper is a multi-million-pound e-commerce brand in Liverpool with a global customer base. Their aim is to provide exciting, on-trend and remarkable designs for wallpaper and have regularly been featured in Livingetc, House Beautiful and Elle Decoration publications. All orders are bespoke to customer requirements and are manufactured in Liverpool.

What Was Required

MuralsWallpaper desired to take their online business to the next level and move away from current systems to allow this to happen. They needed a platform that could be scaled with their growth and assist their internal teams for improved operations. Not wanting to change too much from the layout that customers were used to, they wanted to modernise the website in a way that would not alienate them but improve the website while retaining a similar structure.

Migrating the order and product data from the existing platform to a new website was a requirement. This was key as the existing website was still active in the switchover so that live orders and payments were still being made. It was also important in the build to allow unpaid orders as it is a bespoke product that customers do not always pay for straightaway.


What We Did

We transitioned MuralsWallpaper to WooCommerce and modernised the appearance and feel of the website while keeping the original wireframe of the site. In order to do this successfully, we needed to migrate the existing data from the Drupal system to WooCommerce. Moving to WooCommerce allowed all the benefits of WordPress content management to be used for the marketing team to generate campaigns easily and also manage the site through easy to use interfaces.

One of the requirements was to be able to accept unpaid orders as not all customers pay straight away, this required us to build some custom functionality in WooCommerce for this whilst still keeping the original checkout journey.

Since the build, we have successfully handed this project over to their internal development team.


The challenge for this project was to move away from our existing systems and platforms to take the brand to the next level. We worked collaboratively with Attach on the look and feel for the website and managed to increase the conversion rate following the launch.
