Client Challenge

SpaSeekers wanted to improve overall site speed metrics by moving their frontend to a headless setup. Faster performance was essential for giving customers a smoother journey and improving the reliability of browsing and booking.

They were also working with a legacy CMS supported by a custom GraphQL layer, along with a bespoke checkout API powered by Stripe. This introduced technical constraints that the new approach needed to respect without disrupting the wider platform.

At the same time, SpaSeekers was ready for a complete design refresh. The challenge was to bring in a new look and feel while managing the complexity of the existing systems in a stable and controlled way.

Solution

We built a new Gatsby site to meet the performance goals while keeping the infrastructure stable. Gatsby gave us the flexibility to combine deferred static generation for selected pages with static site generation for the core areas of the website. This ensured strong performance while controlling build times. Using Gatsby source plugins, we connected the new frontend to the legacy CMS and its custom GraphQL layer. This allowed us to integrate cleanly with the existing setup without forcing a broader content migration. We rebuilt the entire interface to match the new designs, creating a modern and consistent user experience across the site. Every part of the frontend was approached with clarity and performance in mind, ensuring the new design felt both familiar and fresh for customers.
