WooCommerce is built on the most popular content management system (CMS) around, WordPress
WooCommerce is a plugin that can be installed to turn a WordPress website into an ecommerce store which is easy to manage, open source (meaning no extra costs for the actual platform, like monthly subscriptions) and highly extendable through further plugins or custom functionality. Making the possibilities endless with your store.
Built on WordPress
The fact that WooCommerce is built on WordPress is a great benefit. It means you can turn an already created website build in WordPress into an ecommerce store, or if you haven’t got a website already, incur any additional fees from this platform because WordPress is also open source and free from monthly charges. With regular updates to both WooCommerce and WordPress it also means your website is kept secure with patches and new features.
With its ability to be extended through custom code, configurations and plugins, WooCommerce can be used for any types of products and services. Whether it is simple t-shirts or bespoke products, this platform can be used for it. We have worked with both levels of complexity and always found a way to shape WooCommerce to be a really effective platform.
One of the out of the box features of WooCommerce is its reporting and analytics, perfect to see if your store is being successful or needs some work. You can see Sales by date, which can give you an idea of order performance. This report also comes with a date range filter of either by year, last month, this month, last 7 days and a custom date range, giving you the ability to track progress over time.
Another great report is Sales by product. Which gives you the same date filtering as sales by date, but drills into the specific products that are performing well, or not so well, on your website. At Attach we also like to include Google Analytics set up, which gives you more specific customer and user tracking, which can be integrated with WooCommerce.
WooCommerce is a platform that scales well. You might only be a small store now but you will need the ability to grow. You also might be a larger store which WooCommerce can cater for as well. Whether it is 10’s of products or 1000’s, WooCommerce can scale with ease. We have also worked with clients to improve scalability and automation when increasing in size. Also, see our ecommerce productivity series first instalment.
With the right setup and configuration, WooCommerce can provide a fast and responsive ecommerce store. We have worked on perfecting our server setup, maximised for return on investment and scalability, to keep WooCommerce website fast even when they scale and at an affordable price.
